Effective date: June 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy applies to OctoTik and OctoClient (together, "the apps"), available for Android, iOS and Windows. OctoTik is a MikroTik Hotspot management tool, and OctoClient is a client that replaces the web login page for authorizing on a MikroTik Hotspot. This policy explains how the apps handle your information. In short: the apps do not run any backend servers and do not collect your data. Router operations remain local, and OctoClient's optional Local Chat exchanges data directly with other devices on the same local network.
The apps do not transmit personal information to us, and we operate no backend servers. Router-related communication happens directly between your device and your MikroTik router. If you use OctoClient's Local Chat, your chat display name, device name, randomly generated device identifier, local IP address, presence information and messages are exchanged directly with other OctoClient devices on the same Wi-Fi or local network. A direct message is sent to its recipient; a message in the common chat is sent to the other participating devices visible on that network.
The following data may be stored locally on your device:
You can clear Local Chat history from its settings. You can remove all locally stored app data by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it. Removing your local copy does not remove messages already received and stored on another participant's device.
Any configuration changes you make through the apps (managing hotspot users, disconnecting active sessions, reading interface statistics) are applied directly on your own MikroTik router. This data stays on your router and is not shared with us or anyone else.
The apps request only the permissions they need to function:
The apps do not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting services. There are no embedded SDKs that send your data elsewhere.
The apps are network administration tools intended for professional and technical users. They are not directed at children under 13 and do not knowingly collect information from them.
Because no data is sent to us, there is no central chat database operated by us. Credentials are stored using the secure storage facilities provided by your operating system. Local Chat messages travel directly over the local network and are not end-to-end encrypted. Other people or devices with access to that network may be able to observe network traffic, so you should not use Local Chat to send passwords or other sensitive information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page, with an updated effective date at the top.
